MULLEN Family History
Mullen (McMullen, MacMullen) is a surname of Irish and Scottish origin. It can be a variant of Mullins, Moylan or derived from the Gaelic "O'Meallain" clan of County Tyrone, usually anglicized as Mallon. Mullen can also derive from the forname of Maelan and its downstream clan Mac Maolain, Lord of Gaileanga Mor d.1144 AD or alternately connect to a branch located in Ulster Province where it is often a form of the Scottish name MacMillan.Select Audience

I am looking for James Mullen who was living in Washington County PA in 1785. He has a son named James as well. They went on to Beaver Pa, then to Clermont Ohio. James Jr. married Jane McCaskey and she died before 1812. I am trying to find out what area of Ireland they came from. If it helps I know that they were Presbyterian. I would appreciate any help.

Hello- I'm trying to find any information about Alexander Mullen of Galway, Ireland, who had a son Allen Mullen, born 1700 in New London, Connecticut. My Mullen line in the States over the generations goes from CT to PA to OH to IL, and I have that all documented. I'm really trying to connect to the Galway origin.

My family ( Mullen) settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA when they left Ireland, probably around the time of the Famine. My father was Hugh J. Mullen, and his father was James J. Mullen. Jamesโs brother was Michael Mullen, well known Cincinnati City Councilman during the 1920โs. I would like to be able to trace my ancestry back to the area of Ireland from whence they traveled to America.

I am trying to find information on my family from my Father's side. My Grandfather is Willis Truman Mullen the First (or, 'Senior') (my father is the Second (or, 'Junior'), my brother is the Third, and my nephew is the Fourth). My Grandfather didn't care to stay connected with family history so I am completely in the dark about my ancestors. All I know is that we are of Irish decent (my brother and I still have patches of red in our mostly brown facial hair). My grandfather's mother was murdered at a young age, if that helps. She and my Grandfather was born in America (where I still live). Any information will help!

Alexander, I am the granddaughter of one of your grandfatherโs brothers, R. โFrankโ Mullen, who has moved back to Arkansas after 50+ years. Would love to connect and learn more about your family. We actually are just returning from a trip in Arkansas were we went back to the โold home placeโ the home of Bonnie and Leonard Mullen. Would love to hear what youโve learned about our familyโs heritage.

His son, John Mullen emagrated to the U.S. in the late 1800s. I am visiting Ireland soon and would love to go to their gravesites, churches where they were married/baptized.
